A 72-year-old man has appeared in court accused of killing a 56-year-old found on a narrow boat in Lancashire.
David Tweddle, 56, from Carlisle, was found collapsed on the vessel by emergency services and later pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday.
David Shiels, of Dawlish Avenue, Blackpool, is accused of manslaughter. He was granted bail by magistrates.
Mr Tweedle, who worked for Age Concern, was found after reports of an assault on a towpath in Garstang.
A post-mortem examination has been carried out, but the results have yet to be released.
Mr Shiels will next appear on 26 October at Lancaster Crown Court.
