Victim in burning car identified

The burning car

A body found in a burning car in Blackpool is that of a 55-year-old local man, police believe.

Officers were called to Squires Gate Lane in the early hours of Thursday after reports a car was on fire.

Lancashire police said the man was found in the driving seat. His death is being treated as "unexplained".

Through ownership of the vehicle, police have traced the family of a 55-year-old man from Blackpool, who they believe was the driver.

Post-mortem tests are due to be carried out.
