Police reveal pledge for new year

Lancashire Constabulary has promised to deliver a "truly citizen-focused police service" in 2009.

The force has signed up to a new National Policing Pledge, which sets out the areas to be concentrated on in the new year.

There are 10 themes, including answering calls promptly, giving the public a say in local policing and providing details about crime.

Chief Constable Steve Finnigan has said he is confident the force can deliver.

"We have worked hard over the years to adopt a policing style that is focused on delivering the needs of local communities and we are highly regarded nationally for this approach," he said.

Chair of the Police Authority, Malcolm Doherty added: "The Police Authority feels that the Policing Pledge reflects the Constabulary's aim to deliver a truly citizen focused police service, an aim fully supported by the police authority."
