Youth arrested after girl stabbed

A 14-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of wounding after a teenage girl was stabbed in the neck, Lancashire police said.

The 17-year-old victim was in Tanterton Hall Road in Ingol, Preston, at about 0300 GMT when she was attacked.

She was taken to Blackpool Victoria hospital with what is believed to be a collapsed lung. Her condition is described as poorly.

Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Det Insp Keith Lee, from Lancashire police, said: "We are appealing for anyone who heard or witnessed arguing in the area of Marfield Close in the early hours of this morning to contact us."
