Suspected British gun runner held

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in The Netherlands on suspicion of importing drugs and guns to Britain.

The man was arrested at the request of Lancashire Constabulary's Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) on Tuesday.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between SOCU, the Dutch police and the Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police said the man, originally from Liverpool, was in custody in Amsterdam awaiting extradition to the UK.

The man, who lives in the Dutch city, is being held on suspicion of importing drugs, firearms and ammunition.
