Five people hurt in car accident

Five people have been injured in a car crash in Lancashire.

Three of the group in the hatchback car were "very seriously injured" in the accident in Great Altcar in Ormskirk on Wednesday morning, police said.

A fourth person is seriously hurt and a fifth suffered minor injuries in the collision at Wood Lane. All have been taken to hospital.

Lancashire police said details of how the accident happened are still unclear and an investigation was under way.
