Wanted man found stabbed to death

Liam James Kilroe A 25-year-old man stabbed to death during a disturbance in west Lancashire was on the run from police.

Liam Kilroe, from Billinge, near St Helens, Merseyside, was wanted in connection with two robberies.

He was found seriously injured by police called to reports of trouble in the Birleywood area of Skelmersdale on Sunday evening. He died later.

A 34-year-old man, from Skelmersdale, was arrested on suspicion of murder and later released on bail.

Lancashire Police revealed last week that they were looking for Mr Kilroe and urged him to hand himself in.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by Preston Crown Court after he failed to appear to face robbery charges.

The force said it could not yet comment on his wanted status.

Inquiries are continuing in the murder investigation.
