An historic Lancashire pier is up for auction for a second time.
Fleetwood pier was built in 1906 and comes complete with five bars, a nightclub, a fish and chip shop and a 100m jetty.
It went under the hammer last year but failed to find a buyer who would meet the £1m asking price.
Owners Fleetwood Estates hope recent interest in the area from housing developers will make buying the pier a more attractive proposition.
An application has been submitted to build 380 homes on Fleetwood docks, and if planning permission is granted, additional investment in housing and transport links will follow.
"We believe that the current level of investment in the area will encourage potential buyers"
Roy Pugh, of auctioneers Pugh and Co, said: "We are optimistic about the auction, and believe that the current level of investment in the area will encourage potential buyers, keen to purchase the landmark property in this up-and-coming town.
"The pier has tremendous potential as a leisure facility and, we believe, could also present a redevelopment opportunity, possibly for residential use.
"Its appeal will be appreciated beyond just the immediate area, with outside buyers attracted by the relatively low property prices in Fleetwood and aware of the investment in the town."
The auction will be held on Wednesday 21 February at The Atlantic Suite at Manchester Airport.
