Teenager in dock over rape charge

A teenage boy has been charged with raping a woman, a Merseyside Police spokesman has said.

The boy is due to appear at North Sefton Magistrates court at Southport on Saturday morning charged with the sexual assault.

The teenager is accused of attacking a 40-year-old woman in the early hours of 17 June.

The Crown Prosecution Service alleges that the 15-year-old boy raped the woman in Southport.
