Man cleared of girl stab attack

A man has been cleared of stabbing a 16-year-old girl in the neck, but convicted of assaulting another person during an incident in Kent.

Matthew Godden, 29, of Preston Road, Northfleet, was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Maidstone Crown Court.

Godden was cleared of a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and a charge of battery.

He is expected to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 18 August.

Michael Godden, 24, also of Preston Road, Northfleet, was cleared of a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a charge of battery.

The 16-year-old girl was given treatment for non-life threatening wounds in hospital following the incident in Park Avenue, Northfleet, on 2 October 2008.
