Mother in court over son's murder

James Taylor

A mother has appeared in court charged with the murder of her 11-year-old son whose body was found at their home in Kent a week ago.

Jennifer Taylor, 44, of Knights Croft, New Ash Green, appeared before Dartford magistrates on Tuesday charged with murdering James Taylor.

Ms Taylor was arrested after police found James's body on 2 December.

She was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, 22 December.

An inquest into James's death has yet to be opened.

A post-mortem examination has taken place but police said last week that until the results of further examinations were known the cause of death could not be determined.

James was a pupil at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys.

His father, who is not a UK resident, has been told of his death.
