Woman, 42, killed in house blaze

A woman has died during a blaze at a house in Sittingbourne, Kent, which was tackled by about 10 firefighters.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the property in Park Drive at 1050 BST on Tuesday after smoke and soot was spotted pouring from the windows.

Two crews, including firefighters in breathing apparatus, tackled the fire and searched the house.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said the body of a 42-year-old woman was discovered at the property.

She added: "Police are not treating the circumstances as suspicious at this time."

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later this week.
