Lorry stolen with asbestos load

The theft of a lorry carrying 30 bags of toxic asbestos waste has sparked a warning from Kent Police.

Officers said the Ford tipper lorry was taken from the car park of Southern Asbestos in Cannon Lane, Tonbridge, between Friday and Monday.

Pc Claire Taylor said the insulation waste was "safely bagged" when it was put in the truck, but was "very toxic" and a "high risk substance".

She said anyone tampering with the bags would be putting themselves at risk.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the force.
