Boy, 13, seriously hurt in attack

A 13-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in north Kent.

Kent Police said the teenager received head injuries in Parkwood Green, Rainham, on Wednesday afternoon.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment and later transferred to a London hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Five boys, aged between 13 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail.

Det Insp Mike Morgan said: "We know that there were lots of people in the area when this incident occurred.

"Officers have already taken information from many of those present but we are still asking anyone who thinks they may know something that will assist us with our enquiries to come forward."
