Anniversary plea for missing son

The mother of a missing Kent man has made an emotional appeal for him to make contact on the 10th anniversary of his disappearance.

James Moodie, 30, went missing from his home in Faversham shortly after lunch on 17 May 1998.

Despite numerous media appeals and various possible sightings in the South East he has not been traced.

Doris Moodie said: "There isn't a day goes by when I don't think of him. I just wish I could see him again."

On the day he disappeared, Mr Moodie had been shopping with his mother before they returned to the family home. He vanished a few hours later.

'Sadness and grief'

Four months later, police found his car abandoned at Sellindge railway station.

He had been working as a horticultural technician in East Malling, but since his disappearance his bank accounts have been left untouched.

Mrs Moodie said she felt "great sadness and grief" over the loss of her son.

"This is like a story without an end," she added.

Mr Moodie, who was known to friends as Jim, is 6ft tall, slim, with blue eyes, and had short dark brown hair.

He often wore a gold hoop in his left ear.

Missing People has created an age-progressed image to show how he might look in his late 30s.
