Derelict college building on fire

Westmount fire [Picture by Sarah Reeves] Six crews from across east Kent were called to a fire at a derelict former college building in Dover.

Firefighters had to pull away from the three-storey building for a time on Sunday afternoon because of safety fears after part of the roof collapsed.

Eyewitness Louise Scott, who lives nearby, told BBC Radio Kent she saw flames coming from the roof of Westmount, in Folkestone Road.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called just before 1400 BST.

It is the second major fire in Dover in two days.

The former St Martin's Church on the corner of Priory Hill and High Street went up in flames on Saturday.
