Friends and family have paid their last respects to Terry Edmonds, whose body was found in a suitcase in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in April.
A post-mortem examination revealed the 17-year-old had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
At her funeral at Saint Mary's Church in Hadlow, her mother spoke of how she had been "lucky enough to call her my daughter and have her call me Mum".
Police have arrested and released three men following her murder.
Terry had been living at the Christian Alliance Housing Association's Homeless Hostel in Tunbridge Wells since January.
Her body was found near the entrance to Morrison's supermarket car park in Vale Avenue on 29 April, two weeks after she went missing.
Terry's mother, Helen, told the congregation: "Tonight, look to the sky and know that that biggest, brightest star up there has to be my beautiful daughter, TJ."
Detectives have said they remain committed to finding Terry's killer.
Speaking on Friday, the Chief Constable of Kent, Mike Fuller, said detectives were following "some very fruitful lines of inquiry".
"We're also awaiting results of forensic tests... which involves examination of DNA," he told BBC Radio Kent.
