Road improvement plans on display

Plans for improvements of the main road into the Port of Immingham are to go on display to the public.

Eight proposed options for upgrading a three-mile stretch of the A160 will be on show before a 12-week period of public consultation.

The changes, ranging in cost from £32m to £248m, are designed to "ease congestion and improve safety", the Highways Agency said.

The plans will be on display in South Killingholme on Friday and Saturday.

Work on the road is due to start in 2013 and will last for two years.

David Pilsworth of the Highways Agency said: "This is an important upgrade offering benefits for all road users by easing congestion and improving safety on this key route to the port - one of England's busiest freight gateways."

He added: "The public exhibition is an opportunity for us to gather feedback which we can use to help us make an informed decision about the preferred design for this route."
