Grimsby teenager Thomas Turgoose, the youngest person to be nominated in the best actor category at the British Independent Film Awards has missed out.
The 16-year-old, who was named best newcomer at the 2006 awards, was up against established names such as Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson on Sunday.
He was nominated for his part in Somers Town, which was also on the best British independent film shortlist.
The best actor award was picked up by Michael Fassbender for the film Hunger.
Thomas's breakthrough came when he was chosen for the lead role in the 2006 film This Is England, which tells the story of a group of skinheads in the early 1980s.
His latest film, Somers Town, was inspired by the regeneration of the neighbourhood between Euston, Kings Cross and St Pancras stations in London.
