'Lax security' invites in thieves

Thieves have been targeting homes in Cleethorpes as residents leave doors and windows open providing "easy pickings", police have said.

Over the last month about 50% of all the thefts from property in the North East Lincolnshire area have been caused by lax security, officers revealed.

Teams from Humberside Police are targeting the area in an attempt to deter or catch the thieves.

"Burglary is an opportunist's crime" Humberside Police said.
