A man who allowed his dog to starve to death in a flat has been jailed for four months and banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
John Stephen, of Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe, had left the dog in the empty property he once occupied and did not provide any care for the creature.
Scunthorpe magistrates gave him the custodial sentence and told him he cannot own animals for the next decade.
RSPCA Inspector Emily Bottomley said the sentence was "wholly justified".
