Taxi office blast woman is named

Fire scene Police have named one of the two women killed in a fire and explosion at a taxi office in Lincolnshire.

Ann Mawer died in the blaze which happened at Fred's Taxis in Immingham at about 0820 GMT on Monday.

A man is being treated for serious burns in hospital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, after the blast which blew out two windows and a door.

Police said the fire was not thought to be suspicious but witnesses and the injured man would be interviewed.

The man is recovering in hospital and his condition is described as "comfortable".

A spokesman said: "He is out of intensive care and back on a ward, but he won't be going anywhere for the time being."

A fire service spokesman said the accident could have involved petrol.

The name of the other woman who died has not been officially confirmed.

Humberside Fire Service spokesman Glenn Ramsden said the injured man was initially taken to Grimsby Hospital with serious burns along one side of his body.

Mr Ramsden said: "This is a particularly harrowing thing to happen at this time of year.

"We have no reason to suspect foul play and we think it is just a terrible accident which may have involved petrol.

"What we do know is that an explosion took place in the office."
