Man charged over double stabbing

A man has been charged after a couple, aged in their 50s, were stabbed during an attempted robbery at a newsagents.

The couple were attacked in Green Lane Stores, Wordsworth Road, Hereford, last Tuesday afternoon, West Mercia Police said.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with robbery and two counts of wounding and is due to appear in court later.

The man, from Hereford, is due to appear before Hereford Magistrates' Court later.

In the attack a woman suffered cuts to her hand and stomach and a man sustained a chest injury. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
