Jewellery taken in armed robbery

An armed robbery at a jewellers in Worcestershire is being investigated.

Three masked men burst into Greville Rossiter Ltd in Worcester Road, Hagley, on Friday afternoon and escaped after taking an unknown amount of jewellery.

The proprietor locked himself in a store room as the raiders, including at least one who was armed with a sledgehammer, entered the premises.

The robbers, who were wearing tracksuits, fled in a black Ford Focus, which was later found burnt out.

The car, registration LT530ZN, was driven in the direction of Stourbridge and was discovered in Pedmore Lane in the town.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

West Mercia Police said it needed to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle, and the people inside it, either before or after the robbery.

The force said it would like to talk to a man and a woman, described as in their 20s, who it understood were taking photographs in the area near to the jewellers shortly before the incident.

One of them had a clipboard and the other a camera, the force added.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact West Mercia Police or Crimestoppers.
