Hospital visitor ban due to bug

A Worcestershire hospital has banned visitors to protect people against "continuing outbreaks" of norovirus.

But the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, said it would consider any requests from relatives who have a "particular need" to visit.

Worcestershire Royal Hospital has closed two wards to new admissions and visitors, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust added.

Visiting in all other wards has been restricted to two hours each day.

This also applies to Kidderminster Hospital, where visitors are allowed in for one hour in the afternoon and another hour in the evening.

People who have had symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting within the previous 48 hours have been asked not to visit.

Anybody who has a particular need to go to a ward where visiting has been banned has been asked to contact the matron or ward manager, the trust said.
