Cordon lifted at fatal raid scene

Craig Hodson-Walker and Lisa Bundy

Police have lifted the cordon outside a village post office where a sub-postmaster's son was shot dead during an armed robbery.

Craig Hodson-Walker, 29, was shot in the chest and his father, Ken, 56, was shot in the leg in Fairfield, Worcestershire, on Friday.

Mr Hodson-Walker remains in a stable condition in hospital after surgery.

Anyone who saw a silver VW Golf used by the offenders in south Birmingham or Solihull should contact police.

The vehicle was stolen on New Year's Eve and found abandoned in a lane near the post office shortly after Mr Hodson-Walker was shot at about 0820 GMT on Friday.

Reward offered

Its registration plates had been changed from GP53 FJJ to W337 DDN for the robbery.

Craig Hodson-Walker was shot while battling the robbers who were armed with a handgun and sledgehammer.

A reward of £50,000 has been offered by the Post Office to catch the killers of Mr Hodson-Walker, who got engaged to Lisa Bundy at Christmas following a 10-year relationship.

The police cordon previously prevented motorists from driving past Fairfield Post Office and Stores, in Stourbridge Road, but only the shop itself remains taped off.

Forensic experts were working inside the building while two uniformed police officers stood guard.

Det Supt Jon Groves, of West Mercia Police, said: "We are very pleased with the response so far.

"But I cannot emphasise enough how important it is that people continue to come forward with information - no matter how insignificant it seems."
