Power cut hits 2,000 properties

Power has been restored to about 2,000 properties which were without electricity in south Herefordshire.

The fault, which was in an overhead power line, happened at about 1700 GMT on Tuesday in the Ross-on-Wye area.

Power was back on within minutes in about three quarters of the properties and all supplies were restored in under two hours, Central Networks said.

It apologised to local people and added that it had worked "quickly and safely" to solve the problem.
