About 120 jobs have been lost with a printing company, which has gone into administration.
Administrators were called on Friday over the future of HS Printers (Worcester) Ltd, known as Goodman Baylis, a company spokesman said.
Administrators were actively seeking buyers, but in the economic climate the chances were "slim," he added.
The spokesman said any company taking over would not be under obligation to employ previous staff.
The printing firm, which has had a site in London Road, has dated back to 1858 when it was known as Ebenezer.
A handful of staff were working on Monday to complete outstanding work, the spokesman said.
The firm, which had been known as Ebenezer Baylis and Sons, became Goodman Baylis Ltd in 2003 following a merger.
The spokesman said Goodman Baylis Ltd went into administration on 11 September 2008.
The business was acquired by HS Printers and continued to trade under Goodman Baylis in recent weeks, he added.
