Production begins at fruit mill

Production has started in Herefordshire at one of Europe's largest fruit mills.

Universal Beverages Limited in Ledbury spent £100m converting the former jam factory into a cider making plant and has received its first apple delivery.

The drinks company has signed a deal to press and mill all apples for Bulmers Cider.

It is expected to process up to 20,000 tonnes of apples per week. The jam factory closed in July but some former staff have been retained.
