Man sought over assault on woman

E-fit of man suspected of assaulting a woman in Kidderminster

Police investigating a serious assault on a woman in Worcestershire have described a man they want to speak to.

The 23-year-old woman was walking in the car park of Morrisons supermarket, Kidderminster, when she was attacked in the early hours of 25 August.

She suffered severe facial injuries and grazes and bruising to her body. Her clothes were also torn and removed.

Police want to speak to a short white man, who wore a baggy T-shirt with a large, possibly yellow, logo on it.

He was between 5ft and 5ft 6ins tall, aged in his late teens or early 20s, slim and clean shaven.

He also wore dark trousers - possibly jeans.

Police have released an electronic image of how the man might look.

Leaflets distributed

Det Supt Steve Pepper, of West Mercia Police, said: "We urgently need to trace this man as he was in the area at the relevant time and may have information that could be vital to the inquiry.

"I would appeal for him to come forward or for anyone who thinks they know his identity to contact us immediately."

Officers carried out anniversary checks in the town centre at the weekend up to and including Sunday night.

Leaflets were also distributed in pubs and clubs appealing for witnesses.

Mr Pepper said there had been a good response and officers were now following up several lines of inquiry.

Anyone who witnessed the attack, which happened at about 0300 BST, or who has information is asked to contact the force.

They can also provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers.
