One killed and two hurt in crash

A 69-year-old woman has died and her great-granddaughter seriously injured in a crash involving two cars.

Emergency crews were called to the B4529 in Cholstrey, near Leominster, Herefordshire, shortly before 2245 BST on Wednesday.

Maud Davies, of Presteigne, Powys, was taking Rachel Davies, 18, to Leominster station to pick up her boyfriend.

The driver of the other car, a 20-year-old man, suffered chest and leg injuries.

Both of the casualties were taken to Hereford County Hospital.

The road was shut for nine hours to allow crash investigators to examine the site.

Anyone who saw the crash has been urged to contact West Mercia Police.
