Former mayor dies after illness

Mike Oborski A former mayor of Kidderminster and well-known local politician has died following a battle against cancer.

Mike Oborski, a Liberal councillor at Wyre Forest District and Worcestershire County council, died on Sunday.

Mr Oborski had recently campaigned for Avastin, the anti-cancer drug, to be prescribed on the NHS.

As well as his political career, which spanned more than 30 years, Mr Oborski was also an ambassador for the Polish community in Kidderminster.
