Appeal after man dies on motorway

An elderly man has died on the M27 motorway in Hampshire when the car he was driving crashed off the road.

One lane of the westbound motorway at junction eight, near Hedge End, plus a slip road, was closed after the crash on Monday morning.

The man's vehicle went into the crash barrier on the hard shoulder, Hampshire police said.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who saw the blue car leave the road to contact them.
