Army Gurkha chefs in Hampshire have been recognised for making eye-catching sculptures - made from lard.
The men at the Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment in Aldershot won silver at the Combined Services Catering Competition for their figures.
Carvings, which include the Buddha and a horse, took about 100 hours to make.
L/Cpl Amrit Limbu, 27, used three 11lb (5kg) blocks of lard to create the buddha statue but admitted that it was "boring" work.
"When I was doing the face that was most difficult," he said after spending 10 hours a day, for 10 days creating the Buddha.
"It could break easily."
The sculptures have to be kept cool, to avoid them melting and are part of the regiment's 50th anniversary celebrations this year.
Head chef, WO Jason Rawbone, said: "They are a feast for the eyes rather than the stomach."
