The jury in the trial of a man accused of the rape and murder of Hannah Foster is to continue considering its verdict on Tuesday.
Hannah, 17, disappeared in Southampton after a night out on 14 March in 2003. Her body was found two days later.
Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, 41, denies rape, kidnap, false imprisonment and murder at Winchester Crown Court.
Mr Kohli told the court he was abducted and forced to have sex with a girl he now knows was Hannah.
He said he was the victim of a conspiracy to frame him.
Jurors heard this was a "revenge" plot after Mr Kohli had blackmailed a work colleague, James Dennis, for about £16,000.
Mr Kohli took the money in return for keeping quiet about an affair he was having with Mr Dennis's wife, the court was told.
But the prosecution claims Mr Kohli had used the details of how he abducted Hannah to create an alternative version of events, in which he was the victim.
