Hannah murder trial judge sums up

The judge in the trial of a man accused of raping and murdering Hannah Foster is expected to finish summing up the case on Monday.

Hannah, 17, disappeared in Southampton after a night out on 14 March 2003. Her body was found two days later.

Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, 41, denies rape, kidnap, false imprisonment and murder at Winchester Crown Court.

The judge is due to finish summing up before sending the jurors out to consider their verdicts.

During the trial Mr Kohli told the court he was abducted and forced to have sex with a girl he now knew was Hannah.

He said he was the victim of a conspiracy to frame him.

Jurors heard this was a "revenge" plot after Mr Kohli had blackmailed a work colleague, James Dennis, for about £16,000.

Mr Kohli took the money in return for keeping quiet about an affair he was having with Mr Dennis's wife, the court was told.

But the prosecution claim Mr Kohli had used the details of how he abducted Hannah to create an alternative version of events, in which he was the victim.

The case continues.
