CCTV released of murdered woman

CCTV of Paula Poolton

CCTV images have been released of the last known movements of a Hampshire woman who was discovered stabbed to death in her car.

Paula Jayne Poolton, 40, of Titchfield, Fareham, was found dead in her Peugeot 206 in Park Gate, near to Swanwick railway station on 28 October.

She had been missing for 11 days. Two men have been bailed over her death.

The CCTV footage is of Ms Poolton shopping in Tesco, Bursledon at about 2130 BST on Friday, 17 October.

Three weeks since her disappearance officers are still appealing for help to piece together her last movements.

There are 35 officers working on the investigation and they have already spoken to 200 potential witnesses.

At about 1100 BST on 17 October, Ms Poolton was seen at the Solent Hotel, where she was a member of the gym.

Later at Tesco she bought bread, cheese, a drink and a packet of pumpkin seeds.

The footage shows Paula wearing a distinctive white coat.

Officers now believe that her car was seen parked in Duncan Road, at Swanwick railway station, on Saturday, 18 October.

Police have asked residents living near Duncan Road to search their gardens for discarded items.

Det Chf Insp Darren O'Callaghan, of Hampshire police, said: "Ms Poolton's car was found parked near a busy railway station and it is possible that the car was there for 11 days before it was discovered.

"Paula's car was lifted from the scene and taken to a forensic laboratory where scientists are carrying out extensive searches and tests.

"I would like to thank the community for their support and would continue to urge people to come forward with information."

Two men, aged 52 and 55 and from the Fareham area, were arrested on suspicion of her murder and have been released on bail.

In a statement, Ms Poolton's devastated parents said the murder of their daughter had left "a massive void" in their lives.
