Hunt for fireworks taken by man

Police are trying to trace 50 fireworks after a man posed as a neighbour and took them from a delivery driver.

The package of 20 thunderflash bangers and 30 Airsoft smoke grenades was being delivered to an address in Hillyfields Nursling, Hampshire.

The intended recipient was out on Tuesday morning and an unknown man claimed to be a neighbour and signed for the package, police say.

It is thought some of the fireworks have been let off in the area.

Pc Helen Armstrong, of Hampshire police, said: "These fireworks are the same as those sold over the counter and are not dangerous provided they are used in accordance with the proper instructions.

"There are concerns that these fireworks may be in the hands of someone who may use them inappropriately and could cause injury to themselves or others.

"We are also investigating the report that the fireworks were obtained by deceiving the delivery driver."
