Two wards at a hospital have been shut following a recent outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea within the community.
About 30 people - patients and staff - have been affected by the Norovirus at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, a spokeswoman said.
The wards Bartlett and St Cross, which have 28 beds each, are shut to new admissions and patients are not being discharged - except to their own homes.
A deep clean has now been carried out, the spokeswoman added on Friday.
"We would suggest limiting contact with those who are more susceptible, such as the elderly and babies"
St Cross ward specialises in orthopaedic and vascular surgery, while Bartlett specialises in trauma and orthopaedics following accident, injury or disease.
The beds will be reopened in line with Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust's policy.
Consultant microbiologist Dr Matthew Dryden said: "We would like people to try to manage their symptoms at home where possible.
"Drinking plenty of fluids helps the body remain hydrated and also speeds the infection through the system - most cases settle within 48 hours.
"If symptoms worsen, we suggest that NHS Direct or the GP is contacted before attending A&E, which is intended to treat only those patients who require urgent and emergency medical attention.
"We would also suggest limiting contact with those who are more susceptible, such as the elderly and babies."
