CCTV shows failed police escape

CCTV footage has been released of a drug dealer jumping into the sea off Hampshire in a bid to outwit officers following a police pursuit.

Tinotenda Muchena, 24, abandoned his vehicle on Clarence Esplanade, Southsea, before running to the sea.

After jumping in and swimming out for at least 30ft (9m), he swam back to shore and gave himself up.

Muchena, of New Road, Southampton was jailed on 1 August, at Portsmouth Crown Court, for class A drugs offences.

He was jailed for seven-and-a-half years after a jury had found him guilty of two counts of possessing criminal property and two counts of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.

He was also found guilty of obstructing a police officer.
