Two dead and two hurt in crashes

Two accidents in Hampshire have left two men dead and a man and a woman with life-threatening injuries.

Two men were killed when a Peugeot 206 crossed the central reservation of the A303 in Micheldever and collided with a 4x4 travelling westbound on Thursday.

An hour later, a Toyota Corolla hit a Mercedes Sprinter Van on the A33 in north Waltham. The man and woman in the car suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to both incidents to come forward.

In the first collision at 1606 BST, the 41-year-old Peugeot driver and the 54-year-old Land Rover Freelander driver were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for six hours.

In the second incident at 1720 BST, the male driver of the Toyota was taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for multiple injuries.

His female passenger was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes van, both men, were taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital with minor injuries.
