Attacked mother tells son to run

A mother who was seriously sexually assaulted told her son to run away fearing he would witness the incident.

The 40-year-old had been playing with her three-year-old in Odiham Common, Hampshire, when her attacker asked whether she had seen his dog.

Before he assaulted her on Wednesday afternoon, she shooed her son away.

The victim and her child later managed to run to safety, said detectives who have released an e-fit of a man they are trying to trace.

Det Con Helen Calton, from Hampshire Constabulary, said: "This was a violent, unprovoked attack which could have been even more serious had the woman not managed to escape.

"We are doing everything we can to find the person responsible and would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to contact us."
