Priest charged with sex assaults

A Catholic priest has been charged with a series of sex attacks on teenagers.

Brian Gerald Rutledge, 68, of Waldegrave Close, Woolston, Southampton, is accused of four counts of indecent assault on two teenagers.

Hampshire Police said the charges followed an investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse.

Police said Mr Rutledge was a Catholic priest at the time the alleged assaults took place. He is due to appear before Southampton magistrates on 18 October.
