Police in a Hampshire village chose the site of their new office for maximum public convenience - and ended up in a toilet block.
Community police officers will now be based in the newly-built loos in the centre of Grayshott.
Surgery sessions to discuss issues such as drug abuse and anti social behaviour will be held in the building.
The high tech "vandal-resistant" building also offers disabled toilets and baby changing facilities.
Basic needs
Police Community Support Officer James Leggat said he is confident the new location will work well as a base and as a venue for regular beat surgeries.
Grayshott's toilets were rebuilt by East Hampshire District Council and opened by MP James Arbuthnot.
The original toilet block, built 50 years ago, was demolished and replaced by the new one on Headley Road car park.
Councillor Judy Onslow said: "The toilets in Grayshott were badly in need of replacing and the council is determined to demonstrate to residents and visitors alike throughout the district that we care about this most basic health need."
The toilets have automatic air extraction to minimise odours, under-floor heating, sanitary fittings made of vandal-resistant materials and a child seat in every cubicle.
