The girl, who was eight at the time, was indecently assaulted by two boys in a park near her Hampshire home in 2002.
She only reported the attack to police last year when she started at a comprehensive school and discovered one of the boys was a pupil there.
The boys, aged 14 and 15, were found guilty of indecent assault on a minor.
They were given a nine month supervision order and placed on the sex offenders' register for two-and-a-half years at Southampton Youth Court two months ago.

But the 14-year-old and his victim are still at the same school, which cannot be named for legal reasons.
A spokesman for Hampshire County Council, which runs the school, said a risk assessment was now being undertaken to ensure the girl was safe.
John Coughlan, Director of Children's Services, said: "Our policy is not to discuss specific cases in public, not least because we have a duty of care to both children in this case.
"We take all allegations of sexual assault very seriously and our priority is always to protect the needs of any vulnerable children who have been victim of such an attack.
"The risk assessment will balance the need to ensure that the child against whom the offence was committed can feel assured that she will be safe and secure at school with the need to ensure that the child who committed the offence is not being punished twice by losing his education.
"In the meantime the situation continues to be closely monitored by the school."
