Man charged over fatal boat fire

The fire after the blast on a boat at Smith Quay, Southampton A 60-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after an explosion and a fire at a boat yard in which a 26-year-old Hungarian man died.

Krisztian Takacs had been carrying out work on a moored vessel in Smith Quay, Woolston, Southampton, when the accident happened on 12 August.

Philip Roger Wyman, from Raneleagh Road in Weymouth, was also charged with three health and safety offences.

He will appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on 8 March.
