Decision day over group cash bids

Seventeen community groups in Cheltenham are due to find out if they will receive a share of £45,000 on offer from the borough council.

Each group had to put a bid together to convince Cheltenham Borough Council its project would be worth an investment of up to £5,000 of taxpayers' money.

Applications included a plan by Pittville School for a market garden.

There was also a bid to restore the old Great Western Railway Station at the town's racecourse.

Twenty-one groups applied for a share of the cash, with 17 put through to the final round.

A decision is due to be made on Tuesday.
