Flat closed after drugs activity

A flat in Gloucester which was being used as a meeting place for drug users has been closed down after a police raid.

Officers said the property in Wellington Street had been the focus of complaints from neighbours.

Police officers visited the flat two weeks ago to warn a court order was being considered to close it down.

Officers have now moved in with specialist contractors to clear the flat and seal it.

The closure order lasts for three months. During this time it will be an offence for people to try to gain access.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the force had evidence of class A drugs being used. Neighbours felt intimidated about some of the people visiting the premises, he added.
