Man tried to entice girl into car

A man tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car as she walked to school in Gloucestershire.

The attempted abduction happened in Mathews Way, Stroud, as the youngster was heading towards Archway School.

Police said a man driving a black car approached her and claimed her mother had asked him to pick her up.

The girl refused the lift and continued to school where she told her teachers what had happened. Police have warned parents and pupils to be vigilant.

The girl told police the man involved in Thursday's incident was white, 40 years old with greying black hair.

A similar incident is said to have occurred in the same area just before Christmas.
