Depot closure plan risks 450 jobs

Wincanton Logistics

Distribution group Wincanton Logistics has announced it is closing its depot in Gloucester next March.

It follows a merger with Culina Logistics and puts 450 jobs at the Brockworth Business Park site at risk.

The company, whose business includes delivering frozen foods to supermarkets across the UK, said the depot was too small and unfit for its purpose.

The union Usdaw said it was awaiting talks with the management before making a comment.

The company says it "recognises and regrets" the impact on the staff, who have always performed to the best of their ability.
